A Travellerspoint blog

Sh*t happens

A sudden end to the adventure

As we were preparing to leave London for Paris and the second part of our trip, we received bad news from home. My husband’s mother had been hospitalized and was not expected to recover. When we got the call, it was 10 a.m London time, which meant the middle of the night back home. I texted our travel planner, who thankfully happened to have her phone on because she was assisting another client in a similar situation. She was able to get a flight from Heathrow. We cancelled the ride to the Eurostar station, got an Uber to the airport, and flew home.

I am catching up on my blog entries now, several months later. My mother-in-law passed away just a week after we returned, and it has taken some time to get everything settled. So, if you are reading this, look for new blog posts as I go through my notebook and souvenirs to update. Thanks!
